In the INSTITUTO I. UMBERT of DERMATOLOGY we use different laser platforms and pulsed light platforms for the treatment of distinct pathologies:

  • CO2 laser
  • CO2 fractional laser
  • CO2 ultra pulse laser
  • Dye laser (595)
  • Nd.yag (1064)
  • Er.yag
  • IPL (500nm, 550nm y 650nm)
  • RADIOFREQUENCY

CO2 FRACTIONAL laser

The fractional laser produces multiple treatment points in the form of tiny pixels which bring about a different result depending on the depth and distance between the pixels. It can be used for treatment of acne scars, small wrinkles, medium wrinkles (face, neck, hands, etc...) and more. It's done with topical anaesthetic, is easily tolerated, and permits recovery of the skin in few days, allowing the patient to return to their day to day life.

ULTRAPULSE CO2 LASER.

The CO2 laser works by creating a controlled 'destruction' of the tissue, which gives it great versatility of indications in multiple pathologies. After the application of the CO2, a vaporisation of the superficial levels of the skin occurs, leaving erosions which heal after a few days. The size of said erosions will depend on the treated lesion.

Indications:

Lentigos and liver spots (dark marks)
Warts, and verrucas
Genital warts
Seborrheic keratosis
Neonatal cysts
Keloids and scars
Rhinophyma
Tattoos
Benign tumours (xanthelasma, fibromas…)
Precancerous lesions
Facial rejuvenation: wrinkles (peribucal, crow's feet, etc...)
Telangiectasia (small facial veins)
Cherry angioma
Angioma

DYE LASER (595)

This is indicated for, and very effective in treating, vascular facial lesions, as well as lesions on the torso and extremities

Indications:

Cuperosis
Varicose veins
Telangiectasias
Spider veins
Lentigo type pigmented lesions

ER.YAG

The Er.yag laser is used for the elimination of marks on the skin, as well as small facial wrinkles; few sessions are required. It produces a tissular destruction, provoking a superficial erosion which takes just a few days to heal. This can be an out-patient treatment.

INTENSE PULSE LIGHT IPL: BIOSTIMULATION AND PHOTOREJUVENATION

The IPL treatment (intense pulse light) repairs aged and sun damaged skin, improves premature signs of ageing, marks (from the sun and age), pigmentations, rosacea, and telangiectasias. The treatment also improves acne scars and fine wrinkles.

The treatment consists in the application of intense pulse light; without damaging the skin, the light penetrates the skin, and is absorbed by the pigmentations or abnormal dilations, then causing a natural healing process.

The treatment can be done with a frequency of every 3 weeks, and for a good result, 3 or 4 sessions are recommended; it can be done at any time of the year. It's recommended to not sunbathe during the treatment, or do so with very high sun protection; it is preferable that the treated area is not tanned. Peeling or acid facial treatments can not be carried out in the days before treatment.

RADIOFREQUENCY

This is a system of surgery-free facial rejuvenation, without anaesthetic or after-care treatment. The radiofrequency waves carry heat to the dermis without effecting the epidermis, which activates the synthesis of collagen and elastin, with the consequent improvement of wrinkles or flaccidity. The laser thermometer permits control of the heat in each stage of the treatment. The result is smooth and rejuvenated skin.

There is also a blue-light version for the treatment of acne.

Four sessions are necessary, with an interval of 3 or 4 weeks between each. The treatment lasts between 30 and 40 minutes. The patients can return to their daily activity immediately.
