We wish we could have full control of our lives, learn to deal with immediateness, be able to quieten our mind and choose the way we want to live.
LIVING A CONSCIOUS BALANCED LIFE |
 |
In this unit we base our work on the central parts of our emotional intellectual and spiritual universe. We work from the centre since our objective is getting centred. This centre is not a way but a state, a way of being and dealing with our experience in life.
We are premanently driven to external connections, we depend on them, on the immediateness, and consequently stress provokes a series of stimuli and a secretion of cortical and chatecholamine, which are responsible for the alteration of insulin and the inflammation, oxidation and ageing of our body.
Recent scientific studies have confirmed that meditation favours our health, which should be understood as a state of mental and physical balance. Medical data confirm that people having meditated for at least 5 years suffer from 80% less cardiovascular diseases and 73% less minor trouble. Also they secrete a bigger quantity of dehidroepiandrosterone (a youth hormone) than non-meditators -23% more in the case of men and 47% more in the case of women.
We have proved that disciplined meditation twice a day can modify our brain patterns, which can give rise to a range of different responses, from a more emotional to a more serene one.
Meditation improves the immune system. Discoveries in the last ten years show that there is an important connection between the nervous, hormonal and immune systems. Researchers believe that deterioration of the human body is caused, to a great extent, by the deterioration of the immune and endocrine systems. When meditating, our pituitary gland is activated. This reduces the secretion of cortical hormone and deactivates the sympathetic nervous system, which causes stress, and activates the parasympathetic system, which has a relaxing effect.
How do we do it?
Our meditation technique is quite exhaustive. We use a number of different tools at the same time: body positions (asanas), respiration –an essential ally- , mudras (very precise positions of hands and fingers which stimulate brain connections) and mantras (sound vibrations which through repetition stimulate hormonal glands). This technique favours the energy flow and therefore, the correct blood stream. An asana is often used to send energy to a specific organ or gland in the endocrine system
How do we proceed?
We will sit on a cotton futon, our back in an upright position and we will dress in comfortable wide clothes. We will achieve a series of yoga postures with the help of our best tool, respiration, and the sound of mantra. At the end of every session, you will be given an exercise adapted to your specific case which will help you to continue working at home for only 7 minutes once or twice a day.
Experiencing meditation will help you to increase awareness of your own life and your body and soul will be grateful for it.
