Chiropractic is the health profession dealing with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vertebral subluxations, and their effects on the function of the nervous system and health in general.
The chiropractic is a little-known in Spain. It was founded at the end of the 19th century in the United States.
In the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and some European countries such as Switzerland, Italy, England, Denmark, France and Belgium, the chiropractic is ranked second among the health professions legally recognized, being used as a complementary alternative medicine.
The objective of chiropractors
The main focus of chiropractors is the spine. They are specialists in diagnosing and treating manually alterations of movement and/or position of vertebrae, called "subluxations", in order to restore proper communication between the central and peripheral nervous system with the rest of the body.
Chiropractic treatment indications
Chiropractic treatment is indicated to recuperate and maintain the proper functioning of the spinal column. Its main objective is to ensure a proper communication between the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the rest of the body. Thus enhances the healing ability of the body.
Chiropractors recommend having a spinal check early in life, way before any symptoms appear. Similar to dental caries the vertebral subluxations can act silently for years before symptoms appear.
Causes of the vertebral subluxations
There are 3 basic causes of subluxations:
Physical causes include slips and falls, accidents, bad postural habits, efforts during domestic work, tension in the office, repetitive movements, lifting objects improperly, sleep face down and/or sleep on the couch...
Emotions such as bitterness, anger and fear can cause recurrent subluxations.
Chemical causes include alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pollution and a non-balanced diet.
Common symptoms of vertebral subluxation
Among the most common symptoms of vertebral subluxations are often headaches, dizziness, headaches, back pain, sciatica, stiffness in the neck, shoulders, arms or legs, “pins and needles” in one or both hands, fatigue and nervousness, itching, eczema, loss of hair, low defenses, etc.
As a tooth decay, most people can have a subluxation much before they start to feel any symptoms. Prevention is better than cure.
