Photodynamic therapy is the combination of two agents which are innocuous in themselves: a photosensitive chemical ALA (aminolevulinic acid), and visible athermic light produced by an LED lamp (Light-emitting Diode). The treatment is based on the utilisation of the light on the tissues, and since it's a low power emission, it is not an evasive treatment.
The ALA combined with the light produces a biostimulation and modulation of the cellular activity. It is indicated for rejuvenation and acne.
The light used for cutaneous rejuvenation has an emission of 633 nm. The effect of this light source is a generation of new collagen fibres, by activation of the fibroblasts, and thus colour alterations and fine wrinkles are corrected, and the skin becomes toned. Also, an increase in the oxygenation of cutaneous fibres is obtained, provoking a spectacular change in the appearance of the skin.
Process: from 1 to 4 sessions, depending on the objective: cutaneous marks, fine wrinkles, or facial toning.
In anti-acne phototherapy, a lamp with an emission of 415 nm is used. Photosensitizers are activated, provoking an elimination of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, responsible for the associated acne inflammation.
Aside from this phototoxicity, biostimulation is produced, causing an increase in the natural reparation mechanisms, achieving an improvement in the skin.
The session lasts 20 minutes, and is absolutely pain-free and non-invasive. This is an authentic revolution in terms of the comfort of the treatment, and more than anything, in terms of the optimal results which are achieved.
