Tratamiento solo en la cara

There are three techniques for eliminating marks on the skin: applying depigmenting creams (which pharmacies make according to a compounded formula individualised for each patient), the various types of laser, and the intense pulsed light system (IPL).

Personalised depigmenting cream (compounded formula)

After a personalised study of the cutaneous characteristics of each person, a suitable cream is prescribed and produced for each patient by the pharmacy using a compounded formula as the base. The cream is to be applied daily, at home, with the percentages of the components gradually increasing, according to the progress of the individual, and the time of the year.

The consistency of the daily application of the cream, and the continued updating of the formula, produces a rejuvenating effect in eliminating the majority of the marks, the small wrinkles, the flaccidity, and acne scars.

Laser

Laser has multiple medical applications, one of them being the elimination of cutaneous marks which appear on the face, neckline, and hands. Often, these marks are associated with ageing, and the main cause of these marks on the skin tends to be prolonged exposure to the sun.

The application of laser in the elimination of cutaneous marks offers the possibility to get rid of the excess pigmentation without damaging the skin. The marks disappear, leaving the skin intact and with a uniform tone.
Laser has the characteristic of emitting a large quantity of energy in a very short period of time. This radiation is absorbed by the cutaneous marks, destroying the pigments, without affecting the skin around it, and without leaving scars.

Laser is indicated for the elimination of benign pigmented lesions on the skin for aesthetic reasons:
liver spots, nevus, 'café au lait' marks, melasma, hyperchromatic scars, after-effects of depigmentation treatment, etc...
This technique is characterised by being non-painful, and not leaving any type of scar or mark.

Its application varies according to age, skin type, and the pigmentation.
Normally 1 or 2 twenty minute sessions are needed to eliminate the pigmented lesion. A minimum of two weeks should pass between each session.

Recommendations for preparation for treatment

In the days before the laser application, it's advisable to not use make-up or concealer. This way, the cutaneous marks which are intended for treatment are totally visible, which will lead to a more effective treatment.

After-care treatment

After the laser treatment, the treated area will be slightly hot, and there will be a slight inflammation, both of which will subside after little time. There may also be a whitening of the area, which may last from a few minutes to a few days, but which will disappear totally in approximately ten or twelve days, giving way to a rosy tone.

The treated area should be observed and taken care of periodically until it's totally healed. Immediately after the treatment, an antibiotic ointment can be applied to prevent infection. It's also advisable to apply dry cold to the area, to decongest and decrease the inflammatory process.

It's necessary to use sun protection until the normal tone of the skin is obtained. Furthermore, sources of heat such as the sauna, swimming pool, heater, hot baths, etc...should be avoided. With these precautions, we will avoid a situation where the scabs become soaked and fall off before time. Finally, we recommend that you begin to use new cosmetic products under the control of a professional after any laser treatment.

Results
Laser treatment destroys excess pigmentation without damaging the skin. With laser, tattoos and marks can be removed, leaving the skin intact and with a uniform tone.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How long does the treatment last?
Normally about twenty minutes per session, depending on the extent of the mark or tattoo.

How much time should pass between sessions?
A minimum of two weeks.

Is it painful?
No. Light discomfort may be noted, but nothing more. Only in rare cases would a local anaesthetic be needed.

How long will the scabs remain?
Scabs on the face take about a week to fall off; scabs on the hands or neckline will take about twenty days.

When can make-up be applied?
You can use make-up to cover the scabs. When they're falling off, sun protection should also be used.

Is it necessary to apply any special product?
It's necessary to use high UV factor sun protection to achieve a uniform tone on the skin. Furthermore, sources of heat such as the sauna, swimming pool, heater, hot baths, etc...should be avoided. With these precautions, we will avoid a situation where the scabs become soaked and fall off before time.
